Ten views of Otokuni
While on a much smaller scale than our exploration of Osaka and Kyoto prefectures, there are some excellent spots on this list, and most importantly, each spot has its own very pleasing wooden sign, complete with name, photo, and explanation. While it is 十景, there are actually 30 spots.
A small park with a couple benches and a very impressive burial mound. Great explanatory signage.
A popular spot with the locals, wonderful location with a great soba shop within the shrine grounds.
We once visited here about 15 years ago, perhaps before a mountain hike, and I remember that visit fondly. Happy to find the temple still in excellent shape.
A hand-made rest point along the walk up to Yoshimine-dera, nice views, and a small but clean toilet.
Absolutely fantastic view, in sharp contrast with the summit of nearby Oshio-yama.
The O10 sign is located in what feels like quite an arbitrary spot. The view is indeed in line with what is being promoted, but it is impossible to infer where the signpost would be just from the title.
Great shrine. See also the relevant K200 article.
A nice park, quite spacious, fun for running around and some decent explanatory signage regarding the relics found nearby.
A traffic circle and impressive set of narrow streets loaded with beautiful trees that have been well maintained over the years.
Excellent bamboo forests all over this area; we didn't have time to actually walk the path named on this O10 sign.
Great shrine, easy to find the signpost. There wasn't anyone around, but the stairs were a lot of fun to climb and descend rapidly.
Nice facility, and beautiful view from on top of the smaller building, which is where the O10 signpost is.
Absolutely top-tier temple, first visit for us. Lots of places to hike nearby, and the sakura garden opposite the temple was also superb.
Excellent shrine, massive trees, great atmosphere and fantastic access to nearby hiking trails. There were lots of hikers and trail-runners nearby, but we went on a less popular route up to Yanagidani-Kannon.
I never would have expected such a well-maintained castle park (complete with moat) smack dab in the middle of a residential area. A huge apartment building is being built right nearby (as of early June 2026). That will probably spoil the nice atmosphere, unfortunately.
Nice park, popular with the locals (young families), sort of reminded me of the Shionji-yama kofun in Yao. Very pleasant.
Very popular park. We were here previously on a hot summer day last year, seeking out K200 signposts among other things. This time we were able to see some new areas surrounding the park, which were great. Also, a lady had brought her giant pet tortoise and was walking it around the park, a rather interesting sight.
A great playground, excellent view of Tennozan. Unfortunately, I forgot to grab a photo of this O10 signpost.
Partway up the standard ascent route for Tennozan.
Also up on Tennozan, great views.
We only stopped by briefly, but the scenery surrounding this temple was superb.
A pleasant small park with a nice path, good explanatory signage, and several good benches.
This was also a purely random chance discovery when walking towards the nearby train station after a very long day (around 15km walking). We sat on the nearby bench for a quick but much-needed and much-enjoyed rest.
